If you gained your car licence before 1997 you will automatically has this entitlement. If you have passed after 1997 you will have to pass a test to gain this qualification. It will give the licence to drive vehicles above 3.5t and under 7.5t in weight. This is a popular licence for ambulance drivers and horsebox drivers. If you are looking to gain your Cat C/Class 2 licence you DO NOT have to do this test first

The entitlements are the same as the C1 licence however if will give you the capability to add a trailer onto your vehicle. The trailer cannot exceed 7.5t. When driving a C1+E vehicle the total weight including the vehicle and trailer cannot exceed 12t

The Category C entitlement, also known as a “Rigid” will provide you with the entitlement to drive over 7.5t and up to but not exceeding 18t. The vehicle must be all in one unit. This licence must be gained prior to moving onto Cat C+E. They can be completed in a combination course but you must pass the Cat C licence first. 

The category C+E entitlement, also known as the“Articulated” licence will provide you with the entitlement to drive over 7.5t and up to but not exceeding 32t which can also have a trailer on the back. It is a separate cab and trailer. With this licence you will be able to drive nearly every vehicle on the road. This licence can be obtained once you have your Category C licence.
